Set yourself free (without compromising on comfort) and cruise the maginificent west and wild north of Corsica with this beautiful campervan.
Your day by day program
You will be met at Bastia airport and taken to our offices, where you will be instructed in the use of your campervan. Once your short training is over, this beautiful campervan is your home for the length of your holiday! You will begin this fantastic journey by travelling west, an area known for its superb beaches.
Distance of roughly 100km via Saint Florent.
Night in your campervan in a campsite.
Feel free to spend the day enjoying the amenities of the campsite and the beautiful beach, or take the VW California for a day of exploration. We suggest a route that takes you into the villages of the Balagne region. The route takes you high up above the coast and into a very traditional area of Corsica. Stop for a coffee or purchase some local delicacies (this is an area of local artisans) and simply soak up the atmosphere of village life.
Approximately 110km drive.
Return to the same campsite in amongst the pine trees and close to the sea.
This is a superb journey. As you cruise down the west coast of Corsica in your campervan (which by now, you will be totally in love with), we will give you plenty of advice as to what not to miss. We suggest you stop in Porto, from where you can take a boat ride to the Scandola marine national park, which has UNESCO world heritage status. From here, take in the magnificent "Calanches de Piana" (red rocks that dramatically plunge into the sea).
After a sumptuous lunch (plenty of wonderful places to eat), continue south to Cargese, a Corsican village steeped in Greek tradition, before continuing on to your campsite in the middle of ancient olive groves.
Approximately 130km.
Night in a 4 star campsite in Sagone.
Spend the day cruising around Ajaccio, where the fashionable folk can be found. Spend your time wandering around the port, the Fesch museum, the house where Napoleon was born, or mooch around the many shops, restaurants and cafes. On the otherhand, you can enjoy the day chilling under olive trees and enjoying your glamourous campsite life.
Approximately 80km loop.
Night in a 4 star campsite in Sagone.
Today you leave the coast to discover the extraordinary landscapes of the interior. Keep your eyes on the road for wandering goats and pigs as you wind your way up the magnificent Gorges de la Spelunca, and then Evisa, the chestnut capital of Corsica, before entering the impressive Vergio forest, as you reach the highest col on the island. There are plenty of options for walks here. On the descent towards Calacuccia, there are places where you can bathe in the crystal blue waters of the mountains rivers, before entering another incredible gorge, called the Scala Santa Regina. Discover Corte, the ancient capital of the island, before descending down to the east coast and the Etang de Biguglia, where flamingos congregate in winter.
Distance approximately 150km.
Night in a 4 star campsite next to the sea.
Now that you've discovered much of the west coast, we invite you to explore the Cape of Corsica, one of the wildest areas of the island. With your trusty camper-van, you'll do a fantastic loup around the cape, taking in little fishing ports, including a tiny fishing village that happens to be the number one port in the whole of France for Langouste (lobster). Try cooking that in the campervan! Continuing on the extremely dramatic west coast of the cape, you will come to Nonza as well as plenty of "secret" places that we will note for you in your road-book. Continue on to Patrimonio, a very well known region for Corsican wine. Now is your opportunity to purchase a bottle or two for your evening at the campsite.
Approximately 180km.
Night in a 4 star campsite next to the sea.
For this last day, make the most of the Corsican sunshine. Take the boat from Saint Florent to the stunning Saleccia beach. Return via the magnificent Murato church. Alternatively, hike up to the old ice houses above Cardo village, or take a walk from the village of Rutali to see ancient stone huts on a rural walk. Alternatively, enjoy a Corsican chestnut beer and a swim in the pool at your excellent campsite.
