Starting from Pisa, this splendid walking tour will take you into the heart of the Tuscan archipelago!
Walk along the most beautiful paths on the island of Elba and plunge into the heart of Pianosa! You will also discover breathtaking seascapes, mountain ranges plunging into the turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, and succulent local products such as Italian culinary delicacies and the wines of Elba.
Nights in 4 star hotels with swimming pool are also included in the price.
Your day by day program
Settle into your hotel in the afternoon and, depending on your time of arrival, stroll down the streets of Pisa and explore the famous leaning Tower of Pisa and the Duomo. Meet the rest of your group at the end of the day.
Night in a 3 star hotel.
After breakfast, your guide will take you around Pisa, its monuments and narrow streets bordered with bars and restaurants. Take the path that leads to the train station and walk all the way up to the charming town centre of Piombino. You will then take the ferry to the island of Elba and land in Porto Ferraio, where Napoleon went into exile.
30 minute transfer to Marciana Marina, where you will be able to relax in the hotel’s swimming pool.
Night in a 4 star hotel.
After a substantial buffet breakfast, you will walk on a path which runs along beaches and their crystal-clear waters. You will walk amidst vast tracts of scrubland, then along a mule track and a hunter’s path. Why not go for a relaxing swim or have a picnic lunch at a nice pebble beach?
Next, walk up to a hilltop lighthouse which will offer you superb views over the sea and the surrounding gulfs.
Return to your 4 star hotel in Marciana Marina.

Today’s hiking adventure will offer nature-lovers a large range of fragrances and sublime panoramic views. Deers and wild mountain sheep called mouflons can often be seen galloping freely around the island.
There are a few technical sections during this itinerary as well as great climbs and descents, which are definitely worth the effort. You will get to cross a few streams and vast tracts of scrubland with many abounding plant species. You will also discover rock shelters perched on mountainsides. If you’re lucky enough, you might even get to see bee-eaters, with their fantastic combination of rainbow coloured feathers. Finally, you will return to your hotel after a 20 minute drive.

After breakfast and a short car transfer to get to the starting point of today’s walk, you will arrive in a superb little village. Travellers often get lost in its maze of charming backstreets.
The path goes up gently and leads to a beautiful forest of chestnut trees. It will also take you along another coastline path with marvellous panoramic views over the North Coast. During the last few meters, the uneven rocky terrain will progressively change into lush green landscapes. The many scenic viewpoints looking out onto the rest of the island will undoubtedly take your breath away. After all, this itinerary is one of the best on the island of Elba.
The summit is also accessible by cable-car.

After breakfast, you will walk to the opposite side of the island and take a boat trip to Pianosa, a little Italian confetti south of Elba. Dolphins can often be seen swimming in the turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. You will soon arrive in Pianosa and its glistening beaches. Please note that swimming is highly restricted in this particular area.
Your guide will also take you into the heart of a natural park, and you will be able to discover this prison island which often appears like a ghost island. You can also have a guided visit of the ancient catacombs, which were used from the Roman times to the end of the 20th century.
Return by boat to the enchanting seaside resort of Marina di Campo.
Night in a 4 star hotel.
After breakfast, you will walk to the port and take the ferry back to mainland Italy. From there, you will be able to take the train to Pisa.
